Terms & Conditions

Debora Di Scala, Basic Psychologist offers psychological services to adults in a safe a professional environment. These Terms & Conditions outline expectations for both client and therapist.

Availability

  • I respond to emails within 2 business days.

  • Sessions: weekdays, 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM.

  • Short-notice appointments: Availability varies but requires prior agreement during my workdays.

  • Phone calls or sessions are unavailable on weekends or holidays unless pre-arranged.

  • I inform you about planned holidays at least 1 month in advance. In my absence, arranged observation details will be provided.

Services

  • I offer short-term and long-term therapy tailored to individual needs.

  • Therapy duration varies from a few sessions to a year or more.

  • Sessions typically occur weekly, but frequency may be adjusted.

Qualifications & Experience

  • I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Maastricht University and a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Erasmus Rotterdam University.

  • I have completed additional training, including Cognitive Behavioural Therpay (CBT) for anxiety disorders and Bioenergetic Therapy for stress and trauma.

  • I am a member of the Netherlands Institute of Psychologists (NIP).​​​

Code of Conduct

I adhere to the NIP code of conduct.

Who I Can Help

  • Clients with mild to moderate concerns, such as trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or self-esteem/acceptance challenges.

  • Clients willing to actively participate in the therapeutic process.

  • Clients able to communicate effectively during sessions.

  • Clients seeking therapy in English or Italian.

​​Who I Cannot Help

  • Clients with severe or chronic mental health conditions requiring specialized treatment.

  • Clients in immediate crisis requiring emergency services.

  • Clients seeking medication management.

  • Clients requiring a legal or forensic evaluation.

  • Clients engaging in harmful or violent behavior.

  • Clients with whom I have a conflict of interest.

  • Clients requiring expertise beyond my scope of practice.

​​Termination of Treatment

I cannot provide therapy if you are:

  • Under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

  • Displaying aggressive behavior.

  • Engaging in inappropriate behavior during sessions.

  • Have an outstanding balance from previous sessions (therapy resumes after full payment).

​​Client Conduct

  • Arrive on time and reschedule cancellations with at least 24 hours' notice (except emergencies).

  • Respect therapist boundaries and professionalism.

  • Maintain confidentiality and not disclose information about other clients.

  • Communicate openly and honestly about thoughts, feelings, and concerns.

  • Ask questions and express concerns about treatment approaches.

  • Avoid behavior that may harm yourself or others.

  • Refrain from harassment, discrimination, or threats towards the therapist.

  • Not bring weapons or illegal substances to sessions.

  • Not damage or steal the therapist's property.

  • Not record sessions without permission.

  • Not attempt to access the therapist's personal data.

  • Not disclose personal information of other clients discussed in therapy sessions.

Therapist Boundaries

  • I cannot accept gifts or financial favors that may compromise the therapeutic relationship.

  • Contact outside therapy is limited to activities part of a therapeutic plan (e.g., exposure therapy).​​

Therapist Role

  • I cannot make decisions for you or exert undue influence over your choices.

  • I cannot impose personal beliefs or values on you and respect your background.

  • I cannot discriminate based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or any personal characteristic.

  • I maintain confidentiality and privacy of your information except when required by law or in case of emergency.

  • I only share personal information for therapeutic purposes.

  • I avoid entering personal or business relationships that could compromise the therapeutic relationship.

​​​Emergency Care

I am not equipped for severe mental health conditions or emergencies. In case of emergency, contact your GP, nearest emergency room, or call 112. For other resources, please click here.

​​Cancellation & Rescheduling 

Please provide at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Failure to do so may result in a charge of the full session fee.

​

​​Late Arrivals

If you're running late, please notify me as soon as possible. While I'll do my best to accommodate you, late arrivals may impact the session duration. Arriving more than 15 minutes late without prior notice may be considered a no-show and subject to the full session fee.

​Insurance & Coverage

I do not directly work with insurance companies. While invoices include necessary details (KvK and NIP numbers) for potential reimbursement, please note that most Dutch insurances do not cover psychological services.

​​Complaints Procedure

If you have any concerns or complaints about the services provided, you are encouraged to discuss them directly with me. Open communication is key to resolving issues and maintaining a positive therapeutic relationship, email me or schedule a free consultation to discuss your concerns.

​

However, if you feel uncomfortable discussing your concerns directly or the issue remains unresolved, you have the right to file a formal complaint with the independent Complaints Desk Care (Geschillencommissie Zorg) at info@klachtenloket-zorg.nl or by phone at 070 – 310 53 92. This body is dedicated to resolving disputes between healthcare providers and their clients.

Here are some circumstances when you may file a complaint with the Complaints Desk Care:

  • The therapist has not followed the internal complaints procedure.

  • The therapist has not adequately addressed your initial complaint.

  • You feel unable to discuss your concerns directly with the therapist under the given circumstances.

 

By agreeing to these Terms & Conditions, you acknowledge your right to file a complaint with the Complaints Desk Care and agree to abide by their decisions and resolutions.
